European Resources Manager of School-Cities

This MINERVA Project seeks to create a European Educational Resource Manager for the cities based on the awareness that the city comprises the setting where education and learning take place. There is an ever-growing presence of bodies of all kinds (public administrations, trusts, foundations, private enterprises, non-governmental organisations, museums, etc.) that offer educational programmes for the general public and school-aged children in particular. These bodies represent cultural and educational agents in the territory.

On occasion, this offer is collected and systematized by the City Councils through programmes of activities that are put out in different formats, with the purpose of facilitating teaching personnel the task of having access to the information and choosing the most appropriate activities for their educational planning.

In light of this reality, the project pursues the creation and systematization of a working methodology that serves:

· First of all, to detect and analyze the teaching needs in the cities and the use that is being made of the CITs for access to the educational resources they provide;

· and, secondly, to identify the possible resources that exist in each city and to describe and classify the educational activities they offer, based on being able to fit them into one of the following common thematic areas previously defined by the project partners: Cultural Heritage , Environmental Education , and Cultural Diversity , and to other specific areas depending on the characteristics of the city: Science – Technology , Culture and Art , Leisure , CIT , Health , and Health and Sport .

The MINERVA project “European Resources Manager of School-Cities” is a 24-month project (2006-2008) and has a total budget of 355,852.00 euros, 75% co-financed by the European Union.
